Spin Art

A couple of weeks ago, I saw this cute little spin art kit and just had to get it! I wasn't sure if Emma was old enough to get the idea, so I waited... impatiently... for three weeks. She should be old enough now, right? Well, I got it out, and she LOVED it! It's so much fun to see her love to do the things I love. She was pretty funny about putting the lids back on each color after she used it before she got the next color out. Every time. So it took a long time for each little circle. I'm not sure what we will do with them, but it was our first real art project at home other than coloring. I am going to do this kind of stuff more often! Maybe finger paints outside when the weather is better...

13 days

Well, Macie is finally better and off the oxygen. That was a long, long 13 days. I am glad she is finally feeling better and eating again. Emma was so excited when I brought her home from the doctor (we went 9 times in 14 days) the last time with no oxygen in her nose... Emma calls her nose "nose one-two" as she sticks one finger up each nostril. So, she had to check out Macie's "nose one-two" and stick her fingers up to show Macie her nose was better! It was pretty cute even if Macie didn't appreciate it at all. Anyway, it's hard to have your babe really sick that long. It's time now to make more baby food to freeze, catch up on laundry, and get some sleep!

{favorites}

We have a few new favorite toys around here! Some of them not so new, but new to the favorites list. These are what keeps us busy all day...

Macie LOVES these teething toys. We have the pink, yellow, and blue, and they are great. We got them when Emma was teething, but Macie seems to like them more than Emma ever did. Go figure.

Emma is loving matching anything, and is always separating like things together. We got this block puzzle from Grandma Jane for Christmas and although she doesn't put the pieces in the right order, she will pick all the same animal. The horse is definitely the favorite. (I love everything from moolka - I will holiday shop here every year!)
We also love 'rice game'. I love learning games- anything that improves motor skills, etc is great in my book. I lay out a great big beach towel on the tile, then a cookie sheet with high sides, and dump a bunch of rice in. I give her funnels and bowls and spoons, and she stays busy for a good long time... long enough to do dishes!

RSV

Well, Macie got worse over the weekend, and she ended up on oxygen from Sunday on. It's just a half liter, but that's what she needs to keep her sats up and her heart rate down. Sunday and Monday were much worse than Saturday, and today she is finally smiling again. Those were som long nights for her daddy, who was sweet enough to stay up with her almost all night both nights. She is still a little crabby, but more like my baby. I got a cute shot of my girls cuddling this morning while I was trying to pin the top of a new quilt together.

It's a little tough to roll around with all this oxygen tubing, but she doesn't seem to mind... another toy to chew on!

Long nights and sick babies

Last week we noticed Macie drooling a lot more, she was fussy, and it looked like she was getting close to teething. She started getting a little cough and I didn't think much of it, but she started sounding wheezy and has a nasty cough, so I took her to the clinic and she has RSV. Bummer. I am very pleased that her oxygen has been staying up- that was my biggest worry! She is a really, really happy kid, and it's so strange to have her fussy for me. So my days have been consisting of humidifier, Vicks rub, tylenol, tissues, etc. It's hard for Emma, too, because Macie has to be upright, so I can't just lay her down for a minute. Nick was sweet and slept sitting up on the couch with her last night. I can't remember the last time I slept eight hours straight with no babies waking me up. Emma is coughing a little more, so I hope she just stops at a little cough and doesn't get sick, too. Well, that's what we are up to... long nights and sick babies!

Numbers

A coulple weeks ago, the girls and I were at the local thrift store and Emma found a treasure she just HAD TO HAVE. And for a dollar, she got them. I think the funny part is she just liked the container and had no idea what was inside, but when you shook the box it made lots of noise. When we got home, she found magnetic numbers inside. She likes things to match, or put like things together, so it was no suprise that's what she did with the numbers! She put them all in groups of what looked alike. What a sweet little girl!

Finally finished!

I know I posted about this a LONG time ago, but I finally remembered to post the picture. The pattern is a cut-up nine patch, so it was really easy- even with a toddler helping! They are both made from the same block, but I arranged the blocks differently so they each have a different look. I am really happy with how they turned out. The bottom picture is a baby doll blanket for Emma's babies, and the top a table runner we enjoyed in February. I really like this block, I plan on using it again!

Before and After

I made this a while ago, but I am still really excited about it. I found the idea here, and I had a lot of ribbon left over from our wedding so I didn't have to buy the ribbon. We had this awful Christmas wreath that I didn't like, so I pulled off the berries and wrapped it with ribbon and began the project. I did burn the ends of each ribbon with a match to prevent fraying. I love it- it's on our front door and I think it's perfect for spring!
