more halloween...

This year we went through 9 costumes between the four of us... it turned into a 3 day holiday for us! For Emma's Joy School party, Emma was Little Red Riding Hood and Macie was a Ballerina.
For a dinner party that night with friends, Emma was Snow White and Macie was the Tooth Fairy. This was by far her favorite, and she asked to dress up as a Tooth Fairy for weeks. Her idea!
Friday was Trick or Treat on Main Street, and we went around businesses on Main Street with cousin M & baby P. Emma was Snow White again, and Macie was a Princess. Emma brought her baby, "Little Olivia" dressed as a Bumblebee. I also made P's poodle skirt (she's hanging out in the warm carseat in the stroller) and M's baby's outfit/poodle skirt.
Saturday was our Ward Party- I am the Secretary in the Primary Presidency in our ward and we are the ones that planned, decorated, etc. for the whole thing. Tons of work! We went as a family of pirates. I was so busy there I totally forgot to get a good picture of the girls in their costumes. Nick even put on a pirate ship shirt to match us. He's a good sport!
I ended up making a total of 8 costumes this year including baby P's and the doll costumes! Ironically, I don't really even care for Halloween!

Joy School Halloween Party!

This is our first of three Halloween events this year, Emma's Joy School Halloween Party! They all got dressed up -

from L to R, Train Conductor, Witch, Little Red Riding Hood {holding Bumblebee!}, a Goomba and Cinderella. Emma insisted her baby have a costume, so I made a simple black shirt, black leggings and a fleece bumblebee striped shirt.

in one minute...

my little girl can find a tub of frosting, open it, and spread the entire thing in the corner between the loveseat and the couch where mommy can't see.

Horseback riding

With Emma in Joy School two mornings a week, Macie and I have been doing fun stuff together. Today we had Papa take Macie on her first horseback ride! She spent a little time getting used to being so close to the horses, with Emma's allergies we usually stay far away from them. While Mom & Dad got the saddles on, she tried to pet the chickens. She was not impressed when I tossed her up on the horse with Papa, she cried for me. So, we switched and I got to ride for a little. She spent maybe 15 minutes total on the horse, which was about perfect. She was ready to move on to feeding the chickens. (Notice the rolled-up jeans on Macie? I have to put her in a 4T!)Dad held a little feed in his hand, and Macie sat down and helped refill his hand faster than the chickens could eat. We had a great morning!

Where is Macie?

I spent a little time baking today and heard Macie call from the living room "Where Macie is?" I went to find her, and this is what I found. Can you find her?
Yup, that dark spot in the blinds up behind the (hideous) loveseat. The funniest part is she had taken off her diaper, so anybody walking by saw her bum pressed against the window.

Here we go again...

13 weeks along, due in April!
I have felt pretty good, my biggest complaint has not been nausea, which is nice. It has been hunger... I eat all the time! This week has been the hardest emotionally, as I would have had my scheduled c-section on the 13th if I hadn't miscarried this spring. The girls are both excited and convinced we are having a baby brother. We'll see!

Memma's Rock & Roll Band

Emma has decided to sing for Rock & Roll band. So cute (ignore the crazy hair - she also likes to stand on her head to watch tv). Macie has decided the most productive use of her time is walking from room to room dumping toys out. Needless to say, she exhausts me.
We have also been talking a lot about letter, the alphabet, how to draw letters and how to spell words. She will tell me: "My letter is E for Memma!"

just us

Emma loves to run errands with me and our 'just us' days. We ran out to Rexburg the other night and she wanted a picnic in the park, so we got some snacks and had a nice little picnic together. I love those one on one days with the girls!

{burley party}

We ended up having Macie's party in Burley at Savannah & Pete's, and it was a lot of fun! We had everybody but Lorelai and Dad, and they were missed!
All the grandkids (minus Lorelai) plus a couple bodies to keep kids still... Why is it always my kids that protest pictures? Every. single. time. ugh.They have a neat little garden, and the kids did a 'color walk' around the property to keep busyPete was great enough to BBQ some Hot Dogs, Hamburgers and Mushroom Burgers for us, and we had a nice casual picnic outside. Did I tell you this kid loves her food?When Macie had opened about 7 presents, she started saying 'no thank you' to opening any more! Guess she decided she had enough loot for one day!Macie had a great time playing Diego & Dora with Uncle Noahwe could not get enough of this cute baby!

My favorite part of the weekend was after we sang Happy Birthday to Macie, she kept saying "Happy Birthday Guys! Happy Birthday Guys!" I think that was her version of "Thank you" and it was really sweet.

summer swimming

It has been warm enough to bring out the pool! Yeah! After they played for HOURS, wore themselves out and had a blast. More swimming to come this summer for sure!

i will miss this

...just out shopping at "target city" during Macie's nap time...
I will miss this. Macie cuddled right into the sling and went to sleep while I got all the shopping done. Emma sits in the cart and holds my list and crosses items off for me - not always helpful, but I love it. At about 35 lbs, Macie is at the max weight limit for the sling, and I will miss it for sure.

5k fun run

Yesterday was the Driggs Tin Cup race day, and I entered the 5k and decided to bring Macie along. I did a little training for this one (not as much as for the last race) but I pushed both kids while I trained. One kid was incredibly easy after that! Here are a couple pics from our day:{audrey and I finished in 31:42}
I never take just Macie anywhere with me - she is just at a tough age and she doesn't listen like Emma did and stay close. She lives with no boundaries or fear. It was great to see her light up when she realized just the two of us were doing activities and playing without distraction. I really need to do more one-on-one with the kids.
